Alamo - Richard E. Darling, 79,. of Rt. 3, Crawfordsville, died at 5 p.m. Sunday in his home east of Alamo. A self-employed carpenter, he moved to the Alamo community in 1975 from Flushing, New York. His memberships included Alamo Masonic Lodge & Memorial Christian Church at Detroit, Mich. He attended Williamsport, Indiana HS. He was born 14 Sept 1911 at Williamsport to Jay and Etta Young Darling. 28 June 1931, he married Hester Walker at Veedersburg. She survives. Also surviving two sons, Bruce, Little Neck NY and Curt, Indian Rock Beach, FL; a daughter, Mrs. Patrick (Janet) Fay of Rt 3, Crawfordsville; two brothers, Robert of Idaville, OK and Phillip of Port Ritchey, FL; 9 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. An infant daughter, 3 brothers, two half-brothers and two half-sisters preceded him in death. Services are 2 p.m. wednesday, Thomas Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. James Ireland officiating. Burial in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
